Hello, I’ll start with the list

ASRock z170 OC formula mb
Zotac gtx 1080FE
64gig (4x16) gskill ddr4 (cant remember the speed)
i7-7700 intel
Kraken 61x liquid cooling
Kraken 81x liquid cooling

Until yesterday everything has been running great for nearly a year. I was having an issue with my gpu getting hot (due to intensive use 80-98% usage and probably poor paste job)

Indecided to order some new thermal paste and cleaners to remove the old stuff and swap the bigger cooler to the gpu.

After I got everything put back together it started up fine, ran games like normal, until I tried running my highest usage game in which my monitors crashed. After resetting the pc my monitors read no signal from the gpu and I get error code 62 on the motherboard.

The on-board graphics still function normally.

My gut tells me something in the cleaning and reinstalling process and killed my gpu but I’m hoping against all odds that someone here will have an answer for me.

So long as you have cooling over not just the GPU chip but the GPU's power delivery area, you'll be fine. To that extent, might I ask if you could pass on an image of the way the card looks after assembly with the AIO both larger and smaller? Are you sure about the Kraken X81 or is it something else?

I’m using an nzxt mounting bracket that mounts the sink to the board complete with board fan. The setup worked fine this past year. I swapped the heat sink on my gpu for the one on my cpu (putting the bigger of the two cooling systems on the gpu) after my monitors went black the first time when i reassembled I keep getting debug code 62 on the motherboard. The on board graphics still give me picture. I’ll have to post a picure tomorrow.
