Thrust masters tend to be well constructed. Thats the bulk of costs. There are also other Thrustmaster steering wheels with a 3rd pedal and the such.

Is it my imagination, or is there only one paddle shifter on the left side? Please don't tell me up/down are both on the left side.

As Yuka said, you are further off with the Logitech G27 if you can find a deal on it. The only thing I don't like about most of the wheels out there is that there isn't support for all consoles+PC without buying a super high end setup like a Fanatec.

This just in: all games that use this wheel will be required to support the Thrustmaster Gaming Services application. You will not be able to use this wheel or even download the drivers unless you first create an account with Thrustmaster and login. You will need to give Thrustmaster a credit card to do so.

See how freaking dumb that sounds, Facebook/Oculus and HTC?

The TFX Force apparently has paddle shifters on both sides

I did not have to do that with my T300. That is required only for this wheel? Makes zero sense.

I have a G27 and loved it for many years and thousands of hours between PC and PS3 racing. Unfortunately it did not work with the PS4 and I had to get a Thrustmaster T300 (this was before the G29/920 were out). The good news is those awesome G27 pedals work with the T300 with a $20 adapter from Ricmotech. But I will say this: the difference between driving with a gear driven wheel (G27) and a belt-driven wheel (T300) is night and day. Belt drive is so much more realistic in feel (smoother and less jerky). Worth the money IMO if you are a serious sim racer and don't want to swing the money for a custom Fanatec setup.

With that said, be careful on buying a used G27. I had to open mine up and fix one of the two servo motor mounts that got loose...the wheel stopped holding centering. Not an overly difficult fix, but it's a little time consuming. And it is a known issue over time, especially if the user has FFB settings cranked up high. Link to pics showing what happened. First pic is the separation, second is my finger is pushing it back together.

A thread detailing the problem and fix:

In any event, the T300 has dropped $100 to $300 now. It's a far superior wheel to the TMX or G27 if you can swing the extra cash and have a PS4 instead of an XBone.

Criticism shouldn't be removed like that mods. In my opinion It's kind of ridiculous. I'm open to say anything I want as long as I'm not insulting anyone or breaking the rules, I'm not harming anyone either. So I don't understand why a comment of frustration towards a product, in my open rightly so, has to be removed.

A 200 dollar steering wheel should contain way better pedals, It's ridiculous from Thrustmaster. Look at the pedals of G25/G27.

hum... somehow these racing wheels require more effort then the controller so I will skip,
I'll relax on my couch and grab my controller to play racing games anyday then these stupid car controllers that just stress you out

Of course they do. But racing sims (Project Cars, DiRT Rally, Assetto Corsa coming to console next) are best driven with a wheel. Arcade racers with unrealistic driving physics (Need For Speed) are good controller and tablet games. People who invest in wheels want a more realistic experience. And wheel sim racers online dominate controller sim racers. Enjoy your couch and losing to your wheel masters if you buy a sim racer. :D

But also to add, nomatter how good the wheel or simulation physics of the game, it still isnt close to how the real thing is. I drive a car i own in many sims with a good wheel setup and it still doesnt drive the same. You lose alot when you dont feel the chassis through your body. That said, i have found $100 logitech wheels to be just as good as the $300 wheels. None of them get it right nor does the more expensive one make you drive better in game. Even the most hardcore sim racer is still an unrealistic arcade racer. The best thing game makers can do in racing games is to do what Forza does. It makes you think you are experiencing sim-like handling and physics and have complete control over everything the car does even though you really dont have much control because its an arcade racer.

Racing teams including F1 teams use PC-based simulators for training (iRacing specifically). Forza is more arcade than sim, like the PS3's Gran Turismo series and PS4's Driveclub . It's like flight simulators do not completely replicate real world flight G-loads and whatnot even if the cockpit is a full scale 100% working replica that Level-D commercial flight simulators are. It's impossible. But they are used as training and competence checking tools.

With that said, there is a difference between wheel quality and feel, and you do get what you pay for in most cases. There's a reason the racing teams as mentioned choose high end wheels like from Fanatec and not $100 jobs from Thrustmaster or Logitech for their custom built PC-based racing simulators. See Case Exhibit A:

"The wheel provides a rotation angle from 270 to 900 degrees" - I don't get it. Does that mean you can set it so it mechanically only rotates 270, 900 degrees, or values in between? Otherwise wouldn't the full angle for a steering wheel just be given in the total degrees between full-left and full-right i.e. one figure?

If it's anything like the G27/9 from Logitech, the driver lets you set up how many degrees of rotation each game handles. For example, for racing games I set it to ~600 degrees, because most racing sims have an issue with turning simulation, but for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, I leave it at 900.

Cheers!

This info incorrect, you don't need to supply CC info to create a Support account at Thrustmaster site. You do need an account to register your product however.
A CC would only be needed if you needed to RMA something. But all company's request on for that reason these days.

This is incorrect, I've had a Thrustmaster support account for years now. Never once have they asked me for CC info just so I can get the latest Firmware or Drivers.
