Hi all,
I have always used the thumb button on my mouse for jumping. Using my
old mice, a Mouseman Wheel (CW47 with ball ons PS2) and an Ifeel optical
mouse I can rest my thumb on the button while having a firm grip around
the whole mouse the same time.
The newer mice from Logitech are designed differently: the thumb
button(s) are now placed slighly above the curve in which the thumb
rests, so to use them you have to change you thumbs position. This does
prevent reflexive movements.
I purchased a new MX518 with all the 1600dpi and other goodies, but the
configuration is as described and in that sense useless to me.
I wonder what the guys at Logitech were thinking when they designed this
so-called 'gaming mouse'. What is the use of a firm ergonomical grip if
the user is forced to change his grip everytime he wants to use a
side-button. Aren't the buttons supposed to be available _all_ the time,
even if not used for jumping?
Anyway, I was curious what you guys use the thumb-button for and, if not
for jumping, what button _do_ you use for jumping?
I appears that my Mouseman and Ifeel are about the last mice that have
the thumb-button placed were it should be IMHO, namely under the thumb.
Any comment is welcome,
Ursa..
