Icons and folders generally display thumbnails (images) . but in my computer for some reason they are not appearing sometimes.

on folders, images of programs inside the folders are not appearing.

on videos the images (thumbnails) of the specific video do not show up. only the icon of the vlc or media player classic appear.

any fix to this ?

The appearance is generally created via the View options.

Go into File Explorer ( "WIN" + "E") and then go to the View tab.

That is where you can configure the icons and folders as required.

You can also customize icons in many cases when the Customize tab is present. If a program/app does not provide a default image(icon) then Windows will default to a generic image.

Also, keep in mind that making changes may involve the folder/sub-folder structure. Changes may or may not go down the folder/sub-folder/file hierarchy.

A change of some sort may or may not affect other folders, sub-folders, or the files within them. File types matter.

Another thing to remember and to check is if any given file has a default app to use in order to open or launch the file.

For example my .pdf files show as a red box icon containing ".pdf". Tends to really standout.....
