Hi. Thunderbird has stopped working. I reiinstalled it and I can't set up AOL. I have tried...
Incomming: IMAP, imap.aol.com with Port = 993. Securety = SSL/TLS Authentication = Autodetect

Outgoing = smtp.aol.com, Port = 993. Securety = SSL, Authentication = Auto detect.

The blue button DONE is greyed out. Tried button re-test and get Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account.

Any help on this. It has worked for a long time up to now.

................The blue button "DONE" is greyed out not available if I use Autodetect................

I can see that and that's why I asked you to list the other options in the "Authentication method" section. If you don't understand what I'm asking then click the downward pointing arrow to reveal what else is available to use.

Both incomming and Outgoing have: Autodetect, Normal password, Encripted password, Kerberos/GSSAPI, NTLM and OAuth2
And what happened when you dumped "Autodetect" and tried each of the other options manually? ALL of the mail providers have ditched "Normal Password" and "Encrypted Password". Most are using "OAuth2" now as it's more secure. Autodetect doesn't work well here. Failing that contact AOL (or whoever it is that owns it these days).

I have tried all the others Encripted password, Kerberos/GSSAPI, NTLM and OAuth2
I get msg incomming server already detected.

I now try Normal passord and get I get msg incomming server already detected. If I click on re-test I get the green The following settings were found by probing the given server. I click on Done and get
incomming server already detected. Error creating account. This is screwed up. It has been working for years so something must have changed.

When I hit re-test it selects Normal password but refuses to finish when I click DONE.

IT WORKS WITH ANOTHER (imap.iomartmail.com) NON AOL EMAIL.
So imap.aol.com and smtp.aol.com are the problem.

Paul , Have you tried clicking the blue "Advanced config" link at the bottom of that settings window? Does it allow you to manually enter all the settings without Thunderbird interfering with everything?
