Here's the situation. I have an ASUS laptop that has and HDMI 1.4 port and a Thunderbolt 2 port. I want to be able to connect an external 144hz monitor to use as my primary display for games. Since HDMI 1.4 maxs out at 60hz could I get Thunderbolt 2 to DVI or Display Port and connect to the monitor and still experience the 144hz?

Solution
Thunderbolt 2 outputs at least DP1.2, and even DP 1.0 could do 1080p 144Hz.

So yes, Thunderbolt 2 to DP would achieve 144Hz just fine.

Not 100% sure on the DVI.
