I want to building a desktop for music production and I wanted to use my Apollo Twin MKII which has thunderbolt 2 , So can anyone recommend a motherboard that has thunderbolt ? I was looking at the Z390 Designare but i have read they are problems getting thunderbolt 2 to work not sure if this is fix now .

Modern boards with TB support are TB3, utilizing a USB Type-C interface.
I'd imagine any adapters that exist could be either problematic to move from the mDP of TB2 to C of TB3, or extremely expensive.

Adding a dedicated TB card via PCIe is probably the best way to go. Although they generally require a 5-pin TB header onboard for full functionality.

Now, those 'officially' only support a set number of (ASUS) boards, but drivers don't appear to be board specific...

Provided you have a TB header (5pin).... and probably best to stick with ASUS boards in this example, you should be totally fine.

There can be problems, with the likes of daisy-chaining etc, but not sure if that's present once using the TB header... or if it's when solely relying on PCIe.
