I currently plan on buying a new iMac. I have a gaming pc, and windows 7 running on it. I want to have the iMac as my main monitor, but to connect it to my pc I will need thunderbolt ports on my motherboard. If I buy a motherboard to upgrade from my current one, will thunderbolt be compatible with pc? I was thinking of buying the P8Z77-V PRO, but have a few questions.

Will this even work?

Is windows compatible with thunderbolt?

Is there anything I should know?

But If I connect them with a thunderbolt cable, cant you press a combination of keys on the mac side to allow display of the pc on the iMac? I believe its called Target Display Mode?

Sorry, i just edited my first post after quick google session. I had simple never heard about that.

Alright, so a thunderbolt mobo should do the trick. and for gaming purposes I should probably use virtumvp to direct graphics intensive software to my discrete gpu?
