what is the best intel haswell cpu (not slow) but not over powerering?
over powering (intel i7 extreme): you add 300 pounds for a little more preformence. so you would buy the one beneath... so which is the best intel i7? and when is haswell e releaseing and is it worth is (ddr4 ram)

best would be a i5. affordable price, has 4 cores with turbo and can handle games, since current games don't use more than 4 cores yet.
haswell e won't be out probably in late 2014 it uses the new socket 2011. according to the web it says haswell-e might have the first consumer cpu to have 8 cores.
on the server side 8 cores already exist, and some even have more cores. it's called Xeon

+1 i5 is best bang for buck on performance. AMD use to be the kind on budget performance but now its all Intel and its not really worth it unless you need a lot more performance for a lot more money to go up to any of the i7 series. a i5 3770k will do almost anything an i7 can.

AMD for price/performance all the way up until the price of the i5 4670k and its mainly intel from there up (The FX 8350/8320 can trade blows with some of the big boys, more often than you'd think). The best price/performance i5 would be the 4670k. Sure you could get a 4770k but it's basically just a 4670k with hyperthreading, which doesn't currently help in gaming and aren't real cores. So yeah, i5 4670k, great CPU.

Yeah your right. I just meant they use to be a lot better price/performance back in around 05-07 you could get an AMD for less than half the price of an intel and they still had some pretty relevant performance in comparison.

Price/performance is great where I live (relatively, because everything costs so much). I got an FX 8320 for 2/3 of the price of a 3570k, and the performance is pretty similar in modern games. In non-multithreaded games my average FPS seems to be around 110-120 anyway, so it's not lacking. Any of the high-end CPUs are excellent. Haven't even OC'd yet. I'd say that the only real good price/performance AMD FX's are the 6300 and 8320, I don't see much point getting an 8350. 4300 is ok too.
