God I can't decide. My friend wants a cheap Vid Card.

choices: (Canadian Prices)
LeadTek TI4200-8x A280LE-TDH MyVIVO: 128M DDR 250/500mhz AGP8x w/TVo, DVi, ViVO 185$
ATi Radeon 9200 128M DDR, VGA, DVI, TV-O, AGP8x 108$
ATi Radeon 9600 128M DDR, VGA, DVI, TV-O, AGP8x 210$
ATi Radeon 9600 Pro 128M DDR, VGA, DVI, TV-O, AGP8x 245$
LeadTek FX5600 A310-TDH 128M DDR AGP8x TVo DVi 215$

And I guess I want to know what is the absolute most "bang for buck" choice.

The Ti4200 is a good card, but the 9600 non-pro is at least as good, quite a bit better with AA and ansio, and has DirectX 9 compatibility that you might really appreciate in the year or so to come.

If choosing between a 9600 np and Ti4200, I'd pay the extra $25 canadian for the 9600 NP. The 9600 core should overclock like a shazbat, too.

But for a mere $35 more than that, I'd go for the 9600 PRO for sure.

If your friend can spend the money go with the 9600pro or a 9500pro(if u can find one cheaper than 9600). Also i dont think DX9 is much of a concern anyway because I think the radeon 9600and fx5600 will have a hard time to run those future DX9 games with descent resolution...

if i could run my games like a little bit slower than my TI4200 with 4xAA and 8x AF i would be a VERY very happy man

but the TI4200 sucks at AF (ansio tropic filtering) so using it any higher than 4x in new games makes a huge performance loss.

9600pro all the way. especially for 60 bucks more

I'd say the R9600Pro is worth the additional money. IMO

It's a relatively small differene. I'd say the GF4 vs R9600non-pro is a toss-up and you might be better off saving the dough.

Just my two frames worth.

Yeah I'm looking into the 9600Pro or 9500Pro. For myself I might spend the extra dough on 9800pro. Look what I found in my price search:

ATI RADEON 9000PRO 64MB DDR/VGA+TVO (BOX) $ 139.00 Next Day
ATI RADEON 9500PRO 128MB DDR+TVO (BOX) $ 315.00 Next Day
ATI RADEON 9700PRO 128MB DDR/VGA+TVO(BOX) $ 535.00 Next Day
ATI RADEON 9800PRO 128MB AGP (RETAIL BOX) $ 519.00 In Stock
ATI TV-Wonder PCI VE $ 69.00 Same Day

Who the hell do they think they are? 97 more the 98. My other concern is that the cheap cards all come from this place that has alot of horrible reviews. I think in the end I'll spend the extra 50$ (in total on everything) to be able to return stuff relatively hassle free.
