Cant overclock this piece of )(*@()#*@()*# worth a damn.

A64 3000+, revision CG. Cant get it stable at 2.4ghz which everyone seems to be running, even with voltage maxed out. Absolute crap.

Maybe Ill throw my voltages out to you guys for the sake of it, its really the only thing that could be the problem now that Ive tested everything. Voltage or a CRAP cpu.

Vcore1: 1.71v
Vcore2: 2.59v
+3.3v: 3.12v
+5v: 5.12V
+12v: 11.65v
-12v: -11.95V
-5v: -3.60V
+5v: 2.53v
Vbat: 2.69v

Im betting on crap cpu. Life sucks. Maybe RMA time. tehe. help me!

It's a crap CPU just because it doesn't overclock 25%? Your CPU is gurranted to work at 2 GHz. If it doesn't work at that speed, then you can call it a crap CPU. Not all CPUs overclock equally good.

Any why your retailer should accept your RMA request? Because it doesn't overclock well? LOL. If they know that you've tried to overclock, then your warranty will be void.

I was ripped off, why wouldnt I send it back?

The product description states this is the Newcastle core with CG revisiong but programs say its the clawhammer with C0 revision. I was cheated, why wouldn't I send it back?

Although the actual model number on the cpu has AX at the end, which I thought meant newcastle with CG reivision, it clearly doesnt.

Make me laugh.

Your cpu work at the speed it is supposed to work.....now piss off.

You're right it is a crap CPU. Now give it to me, get yourself a P4 and feck off.

I feel embarrassed for you, how can you cope with such a low inteligance?

P.S your volts are poor

Hey guys, no need to be so harsh... maybe his expectations were a little high, but there's no need to attack him for it. 😱

<b>ohnoesaz:</b>
Little unlucky, but unless you've bought it under a guarantee to overclock that far, you can't send it back on those grounds.

Are you sure it's the CPU? What motherboard you using, and what settings you running at? If you're running RAM in synch at high speed then it could be that...

What temps? Could be cooling, especially at higher volts.

"Oh woe is me...I just can't get my CPU any faster...boo hoo"

sounds an awful lot like:

"Oh, woe is me, my penis is only 5 inches long and I can't get it any bigger."

If you want a faster CPU, buy a faster CPU. Don't complain that its a crappy CPU because you fail to reach 25% OC.

5 grands on that.

So I got this a64 3000+ today... Model number ends in AX, which I thought was the new newcastles right? As opposed to the AP version which was the clawhammer with half the cache.

But all the programs I use say I have clawhammer core.... And on top of that some programs say Im on skt 939, im not, its 754. On top of that sisandra says its the 98nm cpu, which I thought wasn't even out yet.
You guys aren't helping him at all. In another thread he stated the above. He's not even sure if he got the right CPU. First make sure he has the right CPU, then tell him that OC results aren't guaranteed.

Besides that, have any of you even looked at the voltages on his rails?

<A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=191632#191632" target="_new">Other thread</A>

I don't own a A64 and really can't help him out here. It sounds like he didn't get what he bought though.

Get a new powersupply btw...your rail are sucking hard, it should not even run like that

Well, if he starts the thread saying his cpu is crap because it can't overclock to 2.4 GHz and he wants to RMA the CPU because this reason, what kind of response he can expect?

Yeah, but he might not even have the right CPU and it looks like his voltages are pretty weak. Wouldn't that be something worth addressing?

First off what motherboard are you using? Are you using the SATA controllers? Because more often than not they are not tied to the PCI/AGP lock; thusly, preventing good oc results. Other than that it’s not that bad an overclock especially without exotic cooling.

Dichromatic for your viewing plesure...

haha, i was actually joking about all of this. sorry, it was a busy weekend i forgot to come back and reply. but yeah everything wasnt really meant seriously.

glad it didnt fill up 3 pages, that wouldve sucked.

wait it did.

but hey, in the famous words of Moses:

"he who causes instability may be feared or hated, but he will also be loved when those who despise him realize having him around is better than being dead"

In other words you guys may be angry at me, but in the end you should all be happy overall because youre alive and not dead, like many others who have grown old or fallen in war etc. Thats a good thing.

Wait, maybe Moses didn't really say that... But... You guys get the point.

If you would like to change this post to "I am having trouble OCing my A64 3000+", give us some info, like mobo, ram, psu, as well as the settings you are using.
You might want to take it to the OC forum though. It is more up that alley.
