Hello everyone! I need a new keyboard pretty badly due to my k90 platinum having major key chatter problems. I decided to take the plunge into a custom/enthusiast keyboard. I was first looking at the GMMK Pro. But then I had one person declaring I should get the Keychron V1 and someone else insisting on the Tiger80. What do you all think? It will be used mostly for Discord and games. I spend a LOT of time on discord. I am thinking about getting Holy Panda switches if the switch matters here or not.

My Budget for the bear bones board allows me to get any of the three. But I want to get the one that is going to be the best and last the longest.

Any feed back here is welcome! Thank you!

If you just want to dip your toes into the hobby, you can't beat the Keychron V1 for price, even fully assembled. It will allow you to get into modding the keyboard at a low price. If I had to choice between Tiger80 (TKL) and GMMK Pro (75%) as a barebones, I would 100% choice the GMMK Pro. You have more options that are ready available to you to switch things out. The Tiger80 is amazing (on my bucket list) but starting out, I think the GMMK Pro offers a lot of options outside of the Group Buy scene. I will add a fourth option to your list, AKKO MOD 007 V2 (north facing LEDs) or AKKO MOD 007S V2 (south facing LEDs).

The Holy Panda's are great with these two great choices from either Glorious Panda's or Drop Invyr Panda's . I love my Glorious Panda's (have on the GMMK 2 96%) but most think the Drop's are the better. If really for gaming, I think linear switches are better versus tactile switches. I don't think you can go wrong with either but Speed Silvers are great for gamin g but Panda's are great all around. As Lutfij states, switches are a personal preference in sound, typing feel, etc. so you'll have to play around with your choices.

If you're skeptical about jumping into the DIY scene...you could also look into the One 3 range of keyboards from Ducky. I'd make recommendations towards switches and keyboards(based off of what you've posted above) though the fear I have is how music/sound/artwork/design is subjective, so is switch preference, typing feel and even the noise a keyboard chassis generates.
Thank you! I am not skeptical. In fact it is something I really want to do. Other wise I would just get what I have now again. I have been thinking about it for about a year now and I am ready to make the jump. =) I am a big fan of MX Browns. So I am thinking about getting something along those lines.

Thanks for the feed back. I am thinking about getting something like akain to MX Browns. As I am a big fan of the feel and sound. But I want something more clunky than clicky. The browns, to me, sound somewhere in the middle. Even for gaming I like the bump I get from browns. And I have been watching a lot of videos about switches and the Pandas seem right up my ally. Though from the videos I have seen you seem to hear the spring snap the key back up with the glorious creating a less clean sound. Is that a problem you have noticed?

MX Browns are always the safe bet for a first time build. I don't hear that with my Panda's but they are lubed, so does make a difference over "stock" switches with sound.
