Anyone else think the TigerDirect mailer yesterday was a little shady?

Now accepting Bitcoins while offering the R9 series AMD cards with an undertone that implies you are missing out on a money making opportunity.

With a finite amount that will ever exist and properties that make them attractive to the shadow/criminal element, Bitcoins must surely be a fad, right? How many Bitcoins exist today?

Or an even better question/poll that you wouldn't be able to Google.... "How many of tom's Hardware readers, have any of this "currency"

Newegg had a promotion on a bitcoin mining setup for $2000.

Personally I think it is a fad. A great money maker if you can get into it 5 years ago... but really, I can't see it lasting or becoming a viable currency.

It is supposed to be unaffected by the global market, but you have to buy into it, and people who do mine the coins cash them out regularly. If that isn't a sign of their confidence in it, I don't know what is.
