I want to reapply a new thermal paste for my laptop but the screws of the heatsink are so tight, i tried few different screwdrivers and it ended up being stripped. Also there's a thing under the screw, don't know what it is, maybe a spring.

The laptop model is Acer Aspire E1-472G
Intel i5-4200U
GT 720M
4Gb RAM
500Gb HDD

You used Pozi screwdrivers and they were probably torque heads. It looks like you really have smoothed the hole in the head there is nothing you can do to. Buy a Torque scewdriver - it might be a T15 but you probably have to buy a set.

The irony of all this is that Torque scews can't be done up too tight.

Hey, ty for answering, but.. Are you sure? Because i used Philips and not Pozi, i'm sure because i only have philips and slot screw driver (those ones that are shaped + and -), and also the screw is not Torque shaped, it's phillips, It looks like this http://www.myheatsinks.com/docs/images/hardware/IMG_4833c.jpg and it's not Torx (or torque). But I'll try buying a new set of screwdrivers that includes few shape of screwdriver head to try. Again, ty.
