hey i think its finally time i upgraded my system

i have a celeron300a in an old Abit BH6 motherboard (and i have a bx6 rev 2.0 i can use if i need it) with 256mb of pc100 sdram and a trusty old voodoo3 3000

the way i see it, the main component holding my computer back is the CPU. I know the celeron is hardly at all a popular processor these days, but unfortunately a celeron is about all i can afford....i do realise that AMD's Duron offers superior performance for the same price, but considering i have a intel BX motherboard, the duron is not an option without also buying a new motherboard
what i was wondering is if it would be possible to use a CeleronII 800 or higher in either of these BX chipset slot1 motherboards with a slocket adaptor. or is the celeronII incompatible with the BX chipset?
any help would be greatly apreciated
thank you

Yes. You can in fact use a Celeron 566 overclocked to 850 should you choose, but the 850 only cost a few dollars more. Any Celeron solution up to 1.1GHz is inferior in performance compared to the PIII 700 overclocked to 933.

Back to you Tom...
