I'm having a problem with the time setting on windows 8. Whenever I set the time, it always seems to change randomly. I have set my clock with both the internet server and by myself. I can't tell if its every time I shutdown, hibernate or standby or if it happens even if I'm logged on.

I've never encountered any such problems with xp/vista/7. This is a new PC though with 8 pre-installed.

Please help because, well, this had lead to a fair few mini heart attacks as I look at the clock and find its suddenly 3am when I though it was only 10pm, talk about immersive games!

had a similar problem and it had a very simple solution.. I just had to change the time zone settings in the date and time settings and its been fine ever since! :)
Seeing as the laptop is only 6 days old I seriously hope its not a problem with the CMOS battery. My timezone is correct and I've scanned my laptop a fair bit. I removed internet syncing thinking that could be the problem because the computer is connected when it first boots. I've changed the time and will report back tomorrow if that appears to be the fix.

I have been having this same problem with windows 8.1, there is a time-sync issue that goes beyond just your regional time zone settings and has nothing to do with batteries on the laptop(as my computer is a PC), I've tried not only syncing with every internet time server, I have to do so multiple times a day as a matter of fact, and as well attempted to manually set and lock the time, yet still have had this issue. I'm not sure if anyone else has been having this issue but if you have, and have fixed it, please post how to. It would be a great help.

What is that hack?

I had Dual boot with win8.1 on my ssd (daily work and gaming) and im having constant random chages of the time all the times in both SO, I cant sai if it is while the systeme is on or aslso while booting.

Sorry I don' have a solution because I'm having the same problem. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone and it changes to Central and Mountain before my very eyes. My date and time settings are set for Eastern Time Zone. Seems to have started this right after change from Daylight Savings time to regular Eastern Standard Time.

Apart from checking the Time Zone it is more than likely the CMOS battery - PC or Laptop.
Even if your equipment is new, it could still have a faulty CMOS battery - 3 of us bought the same PC 2 months and all had the same problem of time change - we assumed a back batch of batteries supplied to the PC manufacturer. Changed the CMOS battery and BINGO! no more time change.
