Hi all,

I've been using the i5 2500k since 2012 and it's served me well but time to upgrade :)

This is what I'm currently running:

  • Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor @ 4.3Ghz
  • ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB
  • Corsair Carbide 500R Midi Tower Case - Black
  • MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
  • OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
  • OcUK Value 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz
  • Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

I'm thinking to upgrade with the below
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
Motherboard: Aorus X570 AORUS ELITE (Socket AM4/X570/DDR4/S-ATA 600/ATX)
RAM: HyperX HX432C16PB3K2/16 Predator DDR4 16 GB

So I'll keep the PSU/Case/GPU I currently have.

Do you think this would be a good upgrade? Thanks for any info! It's been a while since I've had to look into hardware so thought I would double before I bye..

Thanks!

Very good, however check the RAM is compatable with the motherboard because Ryzen is still a bit tempermental. (I’ve Personally had issues)
Also you might want to contact Corsair about sending out AM4 mounting hardware for your cooler.

I own a 2500k @4.7gz, 8gb ram DDR3 1600mhz and the nvidia 1070 as well. I'm thinking about finally upgrading the CPU, MB and RAM to the 3600, the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and 16gb Ddr4 3200 CL16 RAM. It's a much cheaper upgrade than yours, for gaming the 3600 performs the same as the 3700X and the X570 chipset is not worth the price. Did you consider that?
Cheers

Thanks both, seems there is a lot of 2500k users still that are finally upgrading, it lasted well! ;p

I did take that into consideration but ended up spending a bit more for the future proofing and have asked Corsair for the AM4 mounting for cooler..

This is what I got

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

MOBO: Aorus X570 AORUS ELITE
RAM:
Corsair LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 C18 (PC4-28800)

Thanks!

How was the upgrade? Did you notice considerable performance improvements over your 2500k @4.3ghz in everyday tasks?
I'm still debating if it's really worth spending 500 euros on the AMD Ryzen 3600, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and 16gb Ddr4 3200 CL16 RAM...
Cheers

I wish I could tell you..

But I've been trying to get it to work all day today with no luck.

It powers up, fans spin up, RGB lights are on the CPU but it just won't display a thing, no, just says no signal detected.

Tried taking 1 RAM stick out and disconnected all devices but still nothing.

Tried using the onboard HDMI slot and removing the ghx card.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

It's very annoying!

Those are great news! how's the everyday performance, is it a night to day difference?

Sorry late reply, havent actually had much of a chance to use it! But the FPS boost in games is big, in Quake Champions I was getting around 100, im now getting 200-250

That's all I can go on.. I'm not using much in Windows, only browsing net etc and that was fast before anyway
