Time to upgrade my system

Last time I upgraded my computer system was in 2010. These are my current specs
MB: ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU: Intel Core i7 Processor i7-930 2.80GHz 8 MB LGA1366 CPU (Bloomfield)

While the PC is still running, I feel it's time to upgrade and build something again to last another 5+ years.

I figure the Case and PS I can keep. Unless I want to just build the complete system and sell this one, or turn it into a home server

I'm thinking $2000 for everything I need to upgrade;
CPU, MB, Memory, GPU, and going with M.2 SSD

The reason I'm going with 6850 over 6800 is it goes from 28 to 40 PCIe lanes
Also, I do software development using Visual Studio and SQL Server.
So both of these will take advantage of the multiple cores, especially the SQL Server.

And since it's been 7 years since my last upgrade I feel the 6850 should last me another 7 years.
The only thing I may consider, is changing the 6850 to the 6900, going from the 6 cores to 8 cores, allowing me to even more future proof the cpu selection.
