Dear clever people, I built the below 6 years ago and it’s lasted very well until now but I’m starting to notice it struggling now.

I’m not a massive gamer so am not looking to spend a fortune but would appreciate recommendations on what to spend my money on. I know I can over lock my pcu but have not done so as I have no clue how to do that.

You suggestions are very much welcome.

Windows 10 on ssd drive and 240gig ssd drive for main games I’m playing.

Yea just upgrade the GPU. The CPU is getting on in years, and it might see signs of the CPU creating a bottleneck if you get a GTX 1070 or better, but extent to which it would bottleneck is debatable. It shouldn't create a serious issue though. I'd personally just do the GPU and then shoot for new CPU/motherboard/RAM in a year or two.

Then you can use any gfx card you can afford and the i5-2500K won't bottleneck. Consider the RX-580 if prices ever stabilize. I see newegg has a promo on an 8GB model for subscribers. $280. $till a bit more than normal.

If your Asus board is suitable for OC'ing the CPU, you can gain some performance that way as well. But for now, grab a faster gfx card. With the 1060 you'll see a heck of a gaming performance increase.
