I have a set of 2GB Kingston Valuram on an Intel mainboard with an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.83 Ghz chip. When I set the BIOS to Auto under the memory config, my timing goes to 9-9-9-24. I just switched to user define and changed mt timing to 7-7-7-21. Do I need to change anything else in the BIOS setting?
Thanks,
Tom

Intel MB's often have poor BIOS options where OCing is concerned compared to say the ASUS ROP MBs. Same with Value RAM, generally very limited and not so good for OCing, but with the C2Q 9550 RAM data transfer rates (speed) is not overly important. To set up the RAM manually, set the speed, timing and voltage to the Kingston specifications (written on the DIMM or packaging). With the memory controller on the NB, the RAM data transfer rate to CPU is limited within the system BUS. So, it's the CPU you would want to OC, not the RAM. I know of no DDR3 much less Value RAM that is rated at 5-5-5-15. DDR2 PC2 8500 is rated at 1066 MHz., 5-5-5-15 at 2.0-2.1v. In BIOS, set the RAM to Kingston advertised specifications and try to OC the CPU.

EDIT list your system specs so others may post.

My system specs are:
Intel mobo DP45SG
Intel Q9550 C2Q 2.83 Ghz
Western Digital 500 GB SATA
(2)Kingston Value Ram KVR1333D3N9/2G
LG DVD burner (external)
WD 1 TB Network hard dive
GeForce 9500 GT 512MB 128bit GDDR3 PCI-e

I know I should oc my CPU also, but I'm still using the stock fan. And under normal loads it reaches 36C.
