I have a Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H-A Motherboard Intel 4th Gen / Socket 1150 / mATX, and while inserting the HDMI cable(of monitor) to the hdmi port of mobo, tiny sparks were noticed.PSU is of corsair 550W,and system has good earthing/grounding.Even the mobo is well seated with screws tightened. So what is the reason,is it normal? HDMI ports carry small amount of power in them (just like USB ports) and that's why you can see the sparks if you connect a turned on component into HDMI port.

Once you've connected the HDMI, there's nothing more to worry.
Just keep in mind that in the next time, power down your system before connecting/ unplugging the HDMI.

Unfortunately,I forgot to switch off the main-switch,from which the monitor and cpu both were left connected. But the CPU was not running though. My concern, did that spark at mobo's hdmi port damage it.....

But bro, whenever I switch-on the switch-board (from which an 15amp extension cord is connected > monitor and cpu gets connection from extension cord) the whole system gets automatically powered. So in that position the hdmi cable of monitor is already connected to the hdmi port of mobo.Lastly I turn on the cpu,by pressing the power button on the cabinet.I hope I have explained the thing in detail,thx...
