I am SOOOOO Happy! I just ordered my PC parts from Newegg, and They are coming in about 4 days!

Case: NZXT Tempest 410 Elite
CPU: AMD FX 6300
Mobo: Asrock 970 Extreme4
GPU: Radeon HD 7870
PSU: Rosewill 650w Modular PSU
HDD: Seagate Baracuda 1TB

Keyboard: Lite-On Keyboard, $8

So yeah! I was just wondering, anyone have any tips when I am building it, I know Static Electricity is a B**** but other than that, things people have found difficult, stuff like that, so thanks!

P.S. This is not an argument thread, don't comment on my choice of AMD, or AsRock, or anything else like that, I already ordered the parts with my money, not yours.

Wear cotton clothing . It wont make static where as fleece , nylon and polyester will.
Work on a wooden table in a room with no carpet ideally , but if there is carpet then taking your shoes and socks off is good enough

lay the mb down on the antistatic bag when you take it out . Probably want to install the processor , RAM and heat sink b4 you put it in the case

Take your time . Its easy and it can be fun

Tips on building...
Uhm, there's an NCIX tech tips on how to build a computer, i'll find that now.... (yes i type my train of thought) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84NvDMMrCNU

Other than that, the only part I do not like doing is screwing in the mobo to the case. I also have this passive weird fear that if I touch something on the motherboard that i'll ruin EVERYTHING!!?!?!?!?!?
just don't touch the pins on the CPU and everything else is fine, lol.

Outlander pretty much sums up the rest. CPU goes first etc...

Just keep some cable ties handy, you can never get enough cable ties.

The main thing to remember is not to rush it.
You've put time, money and effort into this. if something isn't working / fitting then give it a minute and come back to it. If not, ask someone who is more 'confident' to offer assistance.
Keeping all packaging and receipts is also another obvious one.

Give yourself plenty of work-room, when I built my rig I used 2/3 of a dinner table and was running out of space :D.

What will do for today will be the ire of a long time to come. Get it right the first time.

Put in your graphics card last, once its in everything else (SATA cables, front panel connectors, fan plugs) will become a lot more difficult.

Dont put the side panel on when everything is put together but before you turn it on, guarantee something will go wrong if you do, its bad luck.

When turning it on, left hand on case, right hand around the power plug. If there are sparks or smoke, do what comes naturally.

Download drivers to a USB beforehand, will save you a lot of time.

Update the firmware on everything before you install Windows, because likely once you do you wont ever update it again for fear of wiping everything (which is why my Vertex is still on Firmware 1.4, despite the latest being 1.5.1)

Congrats on your first build!!
Have you got everything(games etc...) on an external HDD?
I'm always surprised at how little you need on a computer, program-wise at least.
Ventrilo, Keyboard + mice drivers and you're set, lol.

Well, hope all goes well and have fun!
