Titan X Card not detected by motherboard

I just built a new pc, but I am having trouble with my motherboard detecting my graphics card. My mobo says that the pcie slot it is in is not occupied and my monitor shows nothing when I power on the system. However, the fan and led on the card start when I turn on the system so I assume power isn't an issue. I tried a different card in the same slot and my motherboard said the slot was occupied and the monitor showed the bios screen. I am at a loss. Is the gpu damaged somehow?

Have you connected both 6pin and 8pin power connectors to the Titan X?

Which PCI-E slot are you using? The top slot? Slot 1 x16 on the motherboard?

What connectivity type are you using to the GPU from the monitor? DVI-D? Display Port? HDMI?

I have both the 6 and 8 pin connected into the Titan X and it is in the top slot 1 x 16 on my motherboard.

I almost forgot. I have used a DVI-D, HDMI, and VGA (via an adapter that came with my graphics card). None of them work
