I'm building a Mini-ITX PC with a Silverstone ML07b case. On the current budget projection, I can finish the build around mid-July with a GTX 980. However I've figured out that if I wait another month I can build with a TITAN X.

The rest of the build:
Case: Silverstone Milo ML07b (basically the same thing as the RVZ01
Mobo: ASUS Maximus VII Impact
CPU: Intel i7-4790k
RAM: 16GB RAM (2x8GB kit)
Storage: ~250GB SSD
PSU: Silverstone SX600-G (600W)
Monitor: AOC G2460PQU (144Hz capable)

So should I wait and get the TITAN X, or go ahead and build with the 980?

I am going on a wimp and saying that you are planning a HTPC / Living room setup with the MILO case.

Assuming that, why do you need a 980 or a titan. Noise / Temperatures should be your main concern here. And the Milo doesnt have the best of airflow capability.

If your argument is that you are planning to run games @ 4k on a 4k TV, please take into consideration that currently 4K only runs at 60Hz through HDMI 2.0 , as TVs with Displayports are very rare except for the panny ax800/ax900 series.

Also please be sure to check the card you are buying currently have an HDMI 2.0 port rather than a HDMI 1.4 port for 4K.

Most cards have it except for the gigabyte, if I am not mistaken.

If this is truly what you are going for there is no doubt to go with the GTX 980 or GTX 970. The Titan X with its reference model does not really makes sense in the space of noise/temps.

Actually, I'm using this for a powerful gaming PC, I just so happen to be using a HTPC case and ITX parts - this was in an attempt to "limit" my build so as not to go too far with it! (Oops)

I'm looking at these cards particularly because they are some of the most powerful on the market, while still fitting inside the case. I'm wanting to drive my 144Hz monitor as hard as possible. I am most certainly not driving anything over HDMI, as I was already aware of the 60Hz limitation of HDMI.

I just ordered a similar build.

CPU: I5 4670K
PSU: CX 600W
GPU: TITAN X
Case: Corsair 380t (black)
16GB Ram
H80I CPU cooler
Samsung 850 500GB SSD
BenQ 1440P monitor.
And few other things ran me about $2,200.

I ordered everything from Amazon and having it delivered to Afghanistan, where I'm currently working right now. In a couple of weeks I should have it up and running. Mainly to play Witcher 3 :)

Good luck with your build
