Hello everyone..

fact #1: I am using single GeForce GTX 780 (Non TI) for now. * my CPU is 5960X
fact #2: I do gaming, but its not my main purpose
fact #3: Most of my "PC Time" is creating 3D objects and rendering, sometimes animating them. my main program is 3ds max, zbrush, and maya.
fact #4: I am not a pro, but im not a beginner either. im starting to earn money from my 3D work.
fact #5: I do particle simulations sometimes, in realflow, fumeFX, etc.
fact #6: I do render with Vray Adv 3.0 and starting to learn Vray RT for much quicker render

Now i'm going to upgrade my GPU to the one that can handle that programs above at MUCH better performance. by "much", i mean "more than just 20% or 30%" better.

at first i'm targetting the new GTX TITAN X, but people say that its not like the older TITANs anymore as it doesnt come with that "double-precision thing" anymore. i'm a bit confused about single or double precision. is it really matters in my situation? in my programs that im using? note: I'm NOT that much into simulation precision, well maybe just some water splash and kind of dust, fog etc that doesn't really needed a super precise simulation.

so then i changed my choice to Quadro, but atm the best quadro card that i can afford is Quadro K4200, well maybe K5200 with a bit 'limit-push'. But people said that QUADROs are much slower in GPU Rendering than any GTX Titans, even GTX 780Ti 's better in Vray RT than expensive Quadro K6000. But high polygon number are not a problem with quadro, even the K2200 is better than GTX 780 in viewport performance.

So, what is the best card that i should buy? GTX Titan X, GTX TITAN BLACK, or QUADRO? Or old quadro 6000 paired with old tesla c2070 card maybe? Please help guys..

Thank you very much and im so sorry for my bad english.

I have almost the EXACT same issue. So I hope to hear some input on this.

My primary purpose is 3d art for Maya and Mudbox, but I also want to have high performance when I game.

I have 3x Titan Blacks in SLI that I'm installing.

BUT, now I see the Titan X! I know SLI does not help for Maya, but it will give my games a boost. Using tripple monitors.

Titan X has double the memory of the Titan Black, but how does the double-precision factor into this at all? Will it make a difference with performance running Maya? I see no clear definition of how exactly this affects performance.

Any info on this?
