Hey all, I am currently running two GTX 980's in SLI. I am wanting to do 4k gaming without having to dumb down the graphics settings and still maintain 60fps. I am leaning towards the titan x pascal gpu. I've heard rumors of the 1080 ti possibly being announced and being slightly less power than the titan x. Really don't want to wait for the 1080ti to be released.. What is a realistic time frame for the 1080ti to be on shelves if it were announced at CES. If cost isn't too much of a concern to you would you just go titan x? Thanks guys

Solution
No one knows the release date of the 1080 Ti. Trust me, I'm dying for it to release. The conventional thinking is that Nvidia is holding the release until AMD releases their next RX 490(X). Your best two options are (1) Wait for the 1080 Ti release, or (2) buy two GTX 1080's (non Ti). Two 1080's beats a single Titan XP.

If you're concerned about the 1080 Ti releasing soon, you could buy EVGA GPUS. That way you'd have the option of their 90 day step-up program.

GTX 980ti SLI will blow the Titan X pascal out of the water in 4k. Obviously, some games don't support SLI, but it's support has grown massively. The Titan X pascal can't even do 4k at 60fps. The minimum you need are two 1080's in SLI.
