TN vs IPS for gaming.

I'm looking for a new monitor that's mostly for gaming (sometimes movies) but I can't seem to decide between a TN monitor and IPS monitor. I was looking for a 1080p 75hz refresh rate ips monitor but it seems they don't really exist at least between 24-27 inches. I play a lot of games (MOBAS, FPS, etc) but i'm not a very "hardcore gamer", so i need some opinions on what monitors to choose, my budget is close to 300€. I had in mind VG248QE but it seems the monitor's colors aren't that good and i would like one with a good color and a good refresh rate.

IPS will generally have better color and image characteristics as well as 178/178 viewing angles.
TN will have faster response times.
Pick which is more important to you.
Unless you graphics card and cpu are capable of much higher frame rates than 60fps, ips at 60hz will probably do what you want if you are not a hard core gamer.

My cpu is i5-6600k and gpu is gtx970 i believe in most fps it can push more than 60 fps, so i guess something like MX259H
and VX279H will do the work, by the way what are the differences between these two since MX is 20€ more expensive than the other and is 2 inches smaller, i can't really seem to see the difference at least in specs.

Ok i've been looking around and it seems i want to go for an IPS monitor (or at least one that doesn't look washed out since the viewing angles don't really bother me) with the display of 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 that has a maximum response time of 5ms, no higher, with 24-27 inches and with a refresh rate of 60 or higher. I have a budget of 310€ and i need opinions on monitors. Would i be good with the VX279H for gaming or are there better ips monitors?

I'm using a dell u2414h 24" 1080p ips. It has an 8ms response time and does a lot better gaming than I thought it would. There's a slight blur in high speed situations like turning on the spot in an open world or anything. Panning the scenery around in stuff like far cry 3, cod ghosts, skyrim but it's not overly noticeable. Not to me anyway, everyone is different. I wouldn't change it for a tn panel though, the colors and viewing angles are much better. Not all tn panels look totally horrible but many use inexpensive panels to keep costs down and the colors tend to look more washed out.

There is seemingly no good standards on what response times are for monitors, Nor how they are measured.
5ms is 200 times per second.
Probably best to read an authoritative review of any monitor you are considering.

True, monitors list their response times as gtg, gray to gray which isn't overly informative. Nor is there a set standard so results can be fudged a bit. They also don't list their input lag which can be important for gaming, the time that it takes for input from the kb or mouse to activate movement on the screen. You can run 60fps on a 60hz panel, have a 2ms response time and still seem 'slow' because of poor input lag.

Individual monitor reviews (in depth ones) is about the only way I know of to figure out how truly decent a monitor is or isn't.
