i have a ga-p35-ds3l mobo... and im about to buy a 3-4 pin case fan adapter... but beforehand i was wondering if its worth it, to anyone that has this mobo can you control the fan speeds with a 4 pin fan?

You can plug a 3-pin fan connector into the 4-pin fan header without problems (it should only fit in one way), so you don't need an adapter. Just make sure your case fan doesn't draw more current (amps) than the relatively small amount the header can supply. If you're unsure, just connect it to a Molex 4-pin power line from the power supply.
