I just bought this heatsink thermal compund from Radio Shack until I get some Artci Silver II. It says it is made for CPU heatsinks, but it also says it is silicone-based. Isn't it supposed to be silver, copper, or aluminum-based? Hmm... I'm sure it is the right stuff, must be better than the pink gunk on the HSF right now....

It can't really be silver BASED. If that was true, you'd have a hunk of metal. It's actually a silicone base with silver (or whatever) mixed in.

Right, but Arctic Silver II is about as close to pure silver than you can get (98%, I believe).

Silicon doesn't work as well, but it's not conductive. Good Luck!
