I just yesterday added PNY 4080 oc to my system. All was normal until today, I can't get the fans to stop. The 70ti oc wouldn't break a sweat streaming 1080 or higher video online. The fans only ever kicked on when gaming. For whatever reason they're constant now. I set the fan curve flat at 0 up to about 45 deg and they just wont stop. Does anyone else have this issue and how did you maybe fix it?

What GPU were you on prior to the PNY 4080? As for your platform, did you use DDU to remove your prior GPU drivers before removing your older GPU to drop in the new GPU? Past that point, you're also advised to install the latest GPU drivers sourced from Nvidia, in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

I'm sorry, I wasn't getting a responce for this as quick as I was trying to fix the problem at the time of posting. I didn't get an email either. I didn't see it until clicking on a link from a random email about another thread I had nothing to do with and saw the notification. Anyway, I went from a pny 4070ti oc to pnt 4080oc. Even though I had the newest driver and it's the same exact one, I ended up having to use a program to do a clean uninstall then reinstall. Set the curve again and it's been pretty good. Until the last 2 days. As I glance over at it now I see the fans are running. About 1000rpm. The only thing running is this page, task man and hwmon. No graphic processing at all. The gpu is chillin at 34 with the hotspot at 43 and the curve set to come on at about 50. I've seen it shut off before after cooling back down but now it seems like it just does whatever it wants to. If I restart, It'll stay off until the curve tells it to start. It just doesn't make any sense.

Were you using Afterburner or similar program for custom fan curves?
I had afterburnner but this time I stuck with velocity. My theory is that geforce expirience is keeping it at 30% all the time. Velocity can make it go above but not below no matter the curve. I'm going to have to remove everything again clean and hope I don't do whatever I did in geforce again that caused this. I was messing around trying to get the overlay to work and I think I hit something that made it pay attention to geforce for operation and overrode velocity. Do you know of a third party overlay that will show me fps, temps and rpms during gameplay and video playback?
