To buy a new old board or save and upgrade?

Hello Everyone, and thank you in advance for reading, double thanks for replying. I currently have an AsRock Extreme4 Z77 board with a 3570K in it. I think I can get somewhere around 200 for the pair on eBay. Maybe a little more or less, eBay tends to be finicky. Anyhow, I have reason to believe the motherboard is iffy, and yes, this will all be explained in the eBay ad, I'm not in this to try and take some one for a ride to get away with anything. I value my rating as a seller and will go out of my way for customers. Anyhow, should I sell off my motherboard and save up and upgrade to something new like a 4690K and maybe a Gigabyte board (I don't like the AsRock, I know a lot of people swear by them, but I have not had a good experience with them, and I have with Gigabyte) or maybe MSI (Also, I used to use mainly MSI cause they were good for the money, but this is years ago, before they had military caps and such.

TL;DR To sell and upgrade, or buy a new motherboard to replace my old one.

If your Z77 motherboard is iffy, neither you or anybody else should be using it.
One option is to buy a replacement Z77 on ebay yourself and dump the bad one.
New Z77 motherboards are becoming harder to buy and cost more.

The other option is to do a 1150 upgrade to more current mobo and cpu.
If you think you need more cpu performance(who doesn't?) then go whole hog and spring for a i7-4790K and a Z97 motherboard.
Sell the 3570K on ebay.
Offer the old motherboard for free, charging only the extra cost to ship it.
And, as you say, explain what you think is wrong with it.

The change to a 4790K is minor, and you may be disappointed if you don't see big results.

I think I shall pick up the new board then, unfortunately it looks like I'll have to get another extreme4. At least I won't have to mess with changing around my windows. :)

To the other, the board runs fine, I just don't trust it. Sometimes it restarts, but not enough to be a problem, and never when I'm using it. I'm not sure if the errors are video card, or memory related, I just upgraded to 16Gb cause I had 8 and once it actually shut stuff down and said I ran out. I know that the first and third memory slots are toast, but the board does run, and as long as you're not looking to upgrade your memory, like I was, you'll be fine with it. You see "as is" all the time on eBay and it does sell. Sometimes very well. With the Z77 boards being harder and harder to find new, sometimes "as is" is the best bet if you want to stay with the old tech.

Tried with different PSUs. Right now it's got my EVGA G2 1300W in it. Everything is tight. I've narrowed it down to three possibilities. RAM, VRAM, Mobo. I *know* that the first and third memory slots on the motherboard are bad, which is why I suspect that's the culprit. Just replaced the RAM with a G.Skill Sniper 16Gb set (2 X 8Gb) in the second and fourth slot. I'm going to run memtest toNight and see what I get after a ten hour test. I've done overnight tests with Prime95 and run Kombustor overNight and neither caused it to reboot or flake out. Also could possibly be my SSD. All parts are less than a year old though, and Name parts known to be from reliable brands etc... Just nothing gone really bad yet.
