Ok so here is my dilemma! I am due to receive a EVGA 980ti Hybrid tomorrow and I want to of course install this straight away and start playing however with the news of the new AMD Fury cards so close the sensible part of me thinks maybe I should just keep hold of it for a few days before installing just in case (although this will absolutely kill me).
I understand that installing it and then sending it back may be an option but I don't want to take the risk of doing this and of course lying to the people I purchased this from.
So what I am currently trying to do is get a list together of reasons to install this card when it arrives. So far I have:
1. If I was to buy one of the two new Fury cards it will likely be the more expensive option with the water-cooling this is likely to be priced higher than the 980ti so would be out of my price range as £600 is my limit.
2. As the EVGA 980ti Hybrid is water-cooled I should be able to overclock this quite well bridging any big gaps between the two new cards.
3. I have heard due to the new technology used in the new cards there is potentially only 30,000 units available for 2015 so it would be very unlikely I would be able to get hold of one of the new two cards very soon.
4. I use the graphics card purely for gaming so the gap between my 980ti may not be as big as I heard it is also for other programs that the new AMD Fury cards will excel.
5. This will be my first Nvidia graphics card as I have always purchased AMD in the past so it would be good for me personally to try out the other side.
6. I will potentially be looking to buy another 980ti Hybrid further down the line for SLI and as this card is water-cooled it would be a good candidate to do this with.
7. AMD driver updates are not known to be as good as Nvidia.
8. In the next couple of years I will only be looking to do 1440p gaming so the new Fury X will potentially be overkill for this.
With this in mind I would like to know what other people would do in my situation. Would you install or not install? And you reasons for doing so.
Thank you in advance.
