I set a very low cache space BUT I now find there are over 16 GIG of Temporary Internet Files.

My browser histories are very important to me and I don't want to take even a small chance of losing them. I started deleting through control panel but it scared me when it said "deleting browser history" which is a whole lot different that the Temporary Internet Files. So I aborted it very fast!

In the past, I was able to go into the Temporary Internet Files folder and manually delete. I would get rid of some cookies and leave the rest.

BUT NOW, there is hardly anything in the folder, only a few dozen cookies. WHERE are all those 16GIGS stored? How can I access them and be able to delete ONLY THOSE instead of some automated system that I can't really control?

It is critical I get rid of those gigs asap. Also, in the past I have been able to go into that folder and retrieve something like a sound file or video, but now that folder has hardly anything in it. WHERE are those gigs, and how do I access? There are NO folders in the file, just those few cookies. 92 objects totally 133 bytes! MY GIGS ARE MISSING! LOL!

Took all evening but I found an answer, at least a partial answer. On some forum I found a way to get to some temporary files. Found about 13 gig in there, deleted most except for folders that had little in them. The pathway was from C:users\ etc., different from what had been told, but I found them anyway.

Tried Disk Cleanup and it said I had NO Temporary Internet Files. Why didn't it see the 16 GIG?????

I had some files (Session Manager) in the Recycle Bin and did NOT want to delete them but somehow they got gone anyway. See why I don't trust these automated doings! Even though I had not said to delete ANYTHING it went ahead and emptied the bin. Grrr.... really no loss though, was just keeping them 'in case' I needed them.

So all the "regular ways" of getting my gigs back are useless. WHY does MS design it that way and then the wrong ways are perpetuated? So I'd have to get a new system? When all it is is a matter of cleaning it up the right way? There should be a tool that gives the person complete control in layman's language, and that is effective. I had stopped that tool through Control Panel as it all of a sudden changed the terminology to "browsing history" instead of TIF. WHY did it do that? I guess MS never heard of the KISS method. Oh well, most of my gigs are restored and not it's time for bed. Past time actually. Nite.

Oh, one more thing. How do I REALLY set things so that those temp files do not get huge like that? I had set it the normal way to have very little space which, obviously, has not been observed at all.
