to make a record

Hi, i have a small music band, and i want to make a CD with our preformances, and i want to know wich soundcard can i use to record simultaneously 8 tracks, each one separately from the others, so i can modify each track alone.Please dont say anything about soundblaster...i have been told about the turtlebeach, i think its written in that way. Lots Of thanks.

sorry about no one replying to ur post yet, but my brother is big into making music, and his soundcard cost like 350$. Unfortunatly I do not know what kind it is and he isnt home right now. Ill try to post the name for you in a bit. By the way, what software do you use to record, and I assume you have the mikes etc to record?

The turtle beach won't work for what you want to do. Because it doesn't have a line in. Well, at least from
what i've seen. The mic in is a low quality input, so if you're going for quality this won't work.

I don't think any sound cards (except for maybe very high-end, hard to find ones) have hardware/software ability to mix tracks. You might want to try CoolEdit with the Studio plugin. It'll give you 4 tracks, I think. You can mix them seperately. Or of course, you could spend $30k on Pro Tools

Anyhow, you'd be very hard pressed to find a sound card that accepts 8 mono/4 stero inputs, which is what you seem to be looking for. You might have to record it seperately.

Or, Yamaha and Korg (I think it's those two), have some new stuff out that's a 8 or 12 channel sound board with effects, compressors, gates, etc. built in, and it allows you to master to CD without a computer. I'm sure it has some sort of computer interface, as well. I'll see if I can dig up some links.

Who I highly recommend, BTW. I've used Yamaha ProMix 01 and 01v boards (both small digital boards), and they are both great, especially the 01v.

It looks kind of cheesy, but you never know until you play with it.

If you go to http://www.viaweb.com/tracertek/audin88.html they have a whole bunch of Audio cards that do exactly what you are looking for. expect to pay a lot though (they are on sale for $279.00 right now, that's $100 off the regular price!)

If it works for you then don't fix it.
