Hi,

some of you SP players might know the "-act5" trick to start a new char
at level 33 in Act5 normal. So I thought I'd just have to do the Ancients
and Baal to get to Nightmare diff. I tried this some time ago, but when
my rusher tried to give me a waypoint, I was back in Act1.

This time my Enchantress loaded up with Sorc equipment and I created a
new sorc at level 33 by starting an TCP/IP game. Put on the stuff my
rusher broght in and off we went, carefully avoiding taking waypoints
with the rushee.

I parked her at the back of the Ancients area, as I guess if she is
killed she'll be back in Act1. Killed the Ancients and rushee got all the
mesages about being a hero, but nothing showed up in her quest screen.
Back to town and my rusher went to the Throne of Destruction and killed
all the minions.

Rushee jumps in and steps through the portal to Baal, casting a town
portal immediately. Switch to rusher and killed Baal. Now comes the
important point - does it work?

Switch to rushee and run forward to dead Baal, the Angel appears and
opens the portal to the End of Destruction. She steps in and whoa -
credits for making Slayer and access to Nightmare difficulty!!!

With a level 36 Enchant, rushee would be level 40 in less than an hour I
guess, and the rush to Hell diff is another hour. So I guess I can do
Hell Hellforge in about 4 hours..

I'll let you know how far I get with this experiment..

Regards,

Oliver

it only works in single player and TCP/IP games, afaik.

Create a copy of your Diablo2 program icon, right-click, properties. On the
second tab, just add "-act5" at the end of the target line.. Without the
apostrophes here and after the last apostrophe of the command line..

Then all newly created chars will start at level 33 in Normal Act5 with all
skill/stat points saved up.

Oliver

I couldn't get it to work from there, either. But if you go into the
Diablo2 directory, there should be a file called "game.exe" (I believe
that's its name). Make a new shortcut with "game.exe -act5" as the
destination file and it should work. Alternatively, you could go to
start, run, and enter the path for the file, such as
C:\games\diablo2\game.exe -act5.

This doesn't work. I am in SP version 1.10. Am I going wrong
somewhere?
C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -act5
neither does
C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe -act5"

Here's a screenshot i put up a while ago. It shows the windowed game
switch, but the idea's the same. Replace -w with -act5. And I don't know
how that quote got in front of the -w, but it's not necessary, just a typo.
