I mean is it worth the risk to overclock this gpu as it is so old, i am however getting a new computer soon.
The card is a gainward GT 610 2GB .
other specs are a intel core duo Q8400 and 4 GB of ram memory.

Also this card is pretty old, like i have had it for 1.5 years and it was used before but i dont know how much. (bought it from a computer store when i was an idiot with computers)
Should i apply some new thermal paste or something on the unit or nah.

What games are you playing? I cant imagine an overclock will really do much to help that card perform well in modern games, I doubt it would hurt the card unless it caused temps to skyrocket but like I said I cant see it doing all that much for you. If its overheating due to dried out thermal paste I would replace the paste if temps are fine replacing the paste wouldn't do anything.

Im playing all kinds of games, the most modern games it cant even run.
So i am mostly bound to cs go and "chill games" as civ 5 and other city builders.
ill have a look at the temps but i kept getting lag spikes in cs go and other games.

You can try it but im doubtful it will help with your performance issues in any noticeable way. But give it a shot if you want, check your temps first.

thanks for aswering so quickly dude(and in depth), i appreciate it.
