To sell it or not to sell it? Whats it worth?

So my friend has been asking me for quite some time to sell him my computer, I just have no idea what its really worth, I probably spent around 1400-1500$ originally but depreciation in technology is usually pretty astounding. But hey it might give me a chance to build a new rig which is what I really just like doing.

It's a really clean system, no flaws really at all, would it be worth say 900$?

I paid about 900 bucks for my build.

Here's what you could do. Price all your parts on newegg/td and maybe take off 10-20% for being used.

The main consideration isn't going to be at what price you want to sell the system but how much potential buyers are willing to pay. Computers and parts are affected by the economic downturn too so keep that in mind.
A good indicator of current pricing for used parts is the completed sale listing on eBay.

$900 might be a bit high with it being used, but as long as its in tip top shape it might be worth it, if it comes with all the drivers updated and OS freshly installed. I would say it might warrent the price.

$900 is a lot of cash for a used system without a full warranty. Can you build a new system with near performance level for that price?

agreed. $900 is a lot for a used system. Two notes though: It seems that the OP probally has some good knowledge of computer building and preformance with it being OCed to 4ghzh+. And overall the quality of parts used in the build are fairly good. I guess If i had the choice between a $900 dell/hp/ect.. and this for $900 I would have to heavily consider this build.

Its important to note that the person buying this rig probally does not have the technical knowledge or want to build his own rig. So you really shouldn't compair the OP's rig to the cost of a new one(not dell/hp/ect..). So that's why i stated if it came basically ready to go for him with a fresh copy of the OS installed and drivers updated, it might warrent the higher cost this build has. IMO

I might see if I can do 900$ with the buyer then, It is a fairly fresh installed OS (2 months ago or so when I added the mirror) with everything updated consistently.

take the price on newegg for your build now, that's your answer because there is about a 20-40% premium on pre-built PC's.

I say put the parts together on newegg and sell it for what that's worth. Even though the system is used, you've added value by overclocking it and putting the darn thing together, which your friend probably wouldn't be able to do alone if he bought all the parts himself.

I say that 900-1k is fair.
