I'm thinking of upgrading my desktop. Currently I'm running an intel q9550 (2.83ghz) quad core processor on an ASUS p5q pro turbo motherboard with a slight over clock to 3.4 ghz. 8GB of ram and a ocz agility 3 240GB ssd. and a PNY 560ti graphics card. I'm running windows 8.1 and all runs fine. Im starting to get that "new car" bug and really want to upgrade to a newer Processor, MB, Ram and graphics card. But is it really worth the cost. my other considerations were to just get a newer better graphics card and maybe see if I can find some 4 GB RAM chips and max out the ram on my board go to liquid cooling and run a higher overclock. What are your thoughts. Some guidance is needed here. BTW all I really do on this PC is surf the internet and play World of Warcraft. < main reason for wanting the upgrade. Frame rates are starting to get low in high pop areas

That is what I did. I recently bought a Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB and but a BLUE WD HDD, to save some money instead of getting the Black version.

I got you a new OS because the one you have now is most likely OEM. So here you go.

WOW THANKS!!!!! Actually I Have Actual non OEM copy of 8.1. I just purchased it a few months back due to a problem with Win7. I was running an upgrade Win7 key on a full install and every few months I would get the "Your copy of Windows 7 Home Premium is not genuine" message. I'm Going to copy and paste this. Quick Question. What do you think about this card. http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-3767-KR 199.00 after rebates

I want to thank you for your information and tell you what I ended up with in terms of hardware

Processor intel core i7-4790k
MoBo EVGA Z87
Ram Corsair Vengence Pro 1866 16GB
Video card EVGA GTX760 SC with ACX cooling
CPU cooler NZXT Kraken X31 liquid cooler
PSU EVGA SuperNova 850 G2 (overkill for current config but looking towards the future)
Hard drives OCZ agility III 240GB ssd (reused from last system)
WD caviar Black 640 GB HD (reused from last system)

You're going to want to get a new HDD and possibly new SSD for storage purposes with the way games are using space now. I'd stay with 240 on the SSD and get atleast 1 TB for the HDD. WD Caviar Black is perfect for HDD brand.
