Hello, I had a doubt:
If in the following configuration:
Intel core i5 6500
ASUS H170 PRO Gaming
Radeon R9 380,

Will I be able to use both graphics cards? Like run a single program on the integrated graphics card while running another on the Radeon?
Like Direct X 12, maybe?
I mean running Games on both graphics card simultaneously, or maybe just a game making use of both graphics cards simultaneously?
If yes, how will I do this?

Solution
Yea you can't really do that I believe. I mean you plan to render and game? Just render with your idle GPU power and play games on your GPU. Sorry I failed to recognize your intentions. You can do that with 2 displays.
The thing is that you don't assign them.
If you connect a display to the integrated and it works, it will be solely auto using the integrated power. If you connect a monitor to the r9, you will be solely using the GPU power. It will automatically go to the monitor since it is not XFired. But I mean the Intel one has basically no ability to either game on higher tier games or render. It is practically useless. You can add a monitor and use that for web browsing while your GPU renders and stuff.
1. yes I believe so, but don't try to game on the integrated. you cant use them at the same time for a game, but you can connect a monitor to the integrated GPU for basic tasks.
2. you do so by going into bios, then enabling the integrated GPU, have intel drivers for onboard installed, and set desktop to extend desktop in control panel.
3. use this link as a guide

But I still did not get how to assign specific applications to a specific graphics card. Could you please help me here?
Your response will be appreciated.

Well, actually I want to use just one monitor and then assign specific applications to each graphics card, like video rendering on one while gaming on the other. Is it possible?
Like to be able to use both AMD and Intel technologies and not let one Graphics card lying around waste.

The integrated Intel graphics is a poor substitute when you compare it to dedicated GPU's by Nvidia or AMD. Using only your R9 will not necessarily mean the integrated graphics is lying around and being wasted. On a single display there is not really any practical scenario where you would gain anything by not sticking to the AMD GPU.

So, If my monitor has two inputs, and if I connect one of them to the internal and the other to the R9 380, and then I Start doing some work on the Intel one and then switch inputs to the R9 380, Will the internal still work in the background, Or will it stop and be in power saving state?
Basically I want to decrease the load on one GPU while multitasking.
I was Planning to buy something like an HDMI splitter.

EDIT: Actually you can do it if you edit your bios to allow your integrated intel graphics to remain on even when a GPU is connected to your PCIe bus.

In the bios: go to the configuration tab>video>integrated graphics device> set to “always enable”.

Running them simultaneously will only allow you to do extended desktop management via Windows. So the question remains, do you have multiple monitors? If not then it will not be as simple as using software to switch.

Please ignore my previous comment stating it will not work well, lol :pfff:
