Toms $2500 gaming pc build.

Hey folks. Been a very long time since i been here and since I've looked in to building a pc. I want to build a pc, but have no idea whats compatible or whats relevant anymore so just to make life easy on myself i was going to just build one of the toms best pc builds and since monies not a huge concern i just want the best gaming pc for my dollar i chose the $2500 build. Well, before i buy the parts i had atleast one question. On the parts list it has a Crucial MX300 525GB CT525MX300SSD4 hard drive. First, it's only 525gb. I want a 2tb hard drive. Tired of running out of space on my hard drive. Second, in reading the reviews on this hard drive they keep saying it's a laptop hard drive. Can someone help me find a 2tb hard drive that would be compatible with this build. I don't care about wether i stay within the $2500 range. Just want the sweet spot for best bang for my buck and top quality. Thank you guys very much. Oh, i have 1 requirement. I need to buy from newwegg since i have a gift card from them. Thank you.

The 525GB drive is a Solid State Drive. It is way faster than a Hard disk drive. SSDs are also much more expensive. Any drive apart from m.2 SSDs are compatible. Choose wisely. Do you want speed or capacity?

Actually, hoping for both. I want a fast gaming pc, but will also be photo and video editing and storing a lot of video, music and photos. Will be a family pc on top of everything. So, should i stick with whats listed and get an external hard drive? I would like 2tb. I currently have 1tb pc and it seemed to fill easily. I don't mind shelling out more $$$ to get what i need.

So are you ready to burn 450$ just for a 2tb SSD? It will be much faster than a 50$ 2tb hdd, but much more pricier.

First off do you just plan on gaming? Or do you wanna stream or anything like that at some point also What resolution & FPS are you looking to get? And do you have a case picked out or are you starting from 0.

Thats a big difference $$ wise between a 50$ hdd to a 450$ ssd, lol. If it make a justifiable difference then i don't mind as.much. if it's hardly noticeable then it wouldn't make sense. The 525gb one listed is 350$ so between 350$ for 525gb and 450$ for 2tb that would be worth the uograde, but 50$ to 450$ it would have to make a decent noticeable difference to justify. As.for resolution and FPS I'm not very versed on all that. It will be for gaming, movies, video/photo editing and will have a 55' 4k tv as a monitor. What would you guys suggest? Storage space is very important. And thank you guys for the help. What would you guys install?

I would personally have a hybrid storage system. Crucial MX500 500gb ssd $100 and a 2 tb barracuda Hdd $50. That is what I have running

A 4k monitor changes everything. Your standard monitor is 1080p at 60Hz. 4k is 4x1080p in the same space, so requires the best gpus. A 4cylinder motor might push a 2000lb car around easily, but sink that same motor in an 8000lb truck and forget about trying to go up a hill. A gtx1080ti minimum requirement, a RTX 2080 would be better and best would be a RTX2080ti at US$1200 just for the gpu.

Don't confuse HDD with SSD. HDD is a spinning disc drive, SSD is flash memory. Most ppl will use a @500Gb SSD or smaller as the main boot drive and 1-2Tb HDD as mass storage. Regular Sata SSDs work @5x faster on average than a Sata HDD, but cost considerably more.

Also, is it easy to install 2 hard drives and anything needed to do to store stuff on hard drives seperately? Or is it just installed and it just is what it is? Hope that makes sense.

It is easy to install the drives. Plug in the sata cable to your drive and the other end to your motherboard, then plug in the sata power cable from your power supply. This is for both hdds and ssds. Hdds use 3.5 bays and ssds use 2.5 bays. Make sure there is ssd and hdd space in your case.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9rHgCb Try something like that AMD is better for workstation like video editing it isn't as good as Intel for strictly gaming but it's still a monster of a CPU. Also don't go with a regular SSD go with the NVMe that I put on there it's a little more expensive but your load times for things installed on it are alot faster. If your looking for a GPU that can handle 4K go with the MSI RTX 2080 Ti Gaming x Trio here's a video of the benchmarks on it compared to some other 2080 Ti's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKIPwDHgIPQ. Also a AIO is not needed I just threw it on so the list would be compatible but you can go with a regular cooler & Theres no need to buy a $100 windows license go to Ebay and people sell them on there for dirt cheap.

What about this card. It's on sale, got really good reviews and seems to handle 4k. I'm sure the 2080 ti is better, but for bang for the buck is the 1080 ti up there. Also, it's available now. Not sure when those 2080 ti's will be in stock. Here is link to the exact card. Is it compatable with what the 2080 ti would be?

I have that same GPU and its a beautiful card & a monster you can run 4K on it no issues just not all games on max settings.
