Tons of freezes with new CPU

Okay so today I got my new CPU in, and ever since installation I have had major problems in games. With the previous CPU, everything would run without freezes. I have only played 2 games so far with the new hardware, but the problems seem persistent. Most notably, while playing CS:GO, every time I open fire or die, the game will freeze and I will hear the last sound heard over and over again.
PC specs:
CPU: AMD FX 8320 Black Edition
GPU: AMD Sapphire R9 270x
Gigabyte MOBO
4 Gb RAM



PS: I also got a new monitor in today, and I'm not sure if this could be related to the problem.

Doubt this is the monitor.

Run CPU-Z and see what speed the CPU is going at.

Which motherboard more specifically? Are you running the latest bios?

Okay so actually I think it is the monitor. I disabled it and played Counter Strike and it worked flawlessly. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be the cause of the problem?

Need some more details of the setup. How many monitors are you running, and at what resolution. Also, how is the monitor connected to the motherboard.

Did you try the monitor on another system and see if the picture is normal or not?
