Too difficult to install an HDD to screwless mount

Hi there. I've been trying to mount an 7-years old laptop 2,5" HDD to my modern PC in a 2,5" screwless mount (the case is Aerocool Aero-1000). The HDD is SATA 2 so there's no problem with connections. The problem is it is really hard to put the drive into the mount. I managed to fit 3 of 4 ledges and I stopped because it was bending so much that I thought it'd break apart if I try to apply even more force to unbend the rack to fit the last one. Is it okay or I'm doing something wrong? I suspect that the ledges there which act like screws in screw mount are too long so they do not letting me fit them all, I'm just afraid of unbending the rack so much. Maybe I should whittle them down a bit? Thanks.

The point is the ledge is so long that even if I unbend the rack, it doesn't want to move to the side of HDD, so I'm scared of breaking it.
How can I then uninstall the drive from the rack? I've barely unplug it after fitting 3 of 4 ledges, I even think it will be impossible to do.
