So I just got a ASROCK 970 Extreme 3 because I needed usb3 (didn't need but really wanted) as an upgrade from my old 760 or whatever. Because of that I picked up a new heatsink too hoping it would be quieter then stock and got a Hyper 212 Evo, I figured i'd do some overclocking. I've been reading into overclocking and want do do something simple and stable( don't we all...) But really wondering where to begin overclocking. Asrock's uefi has capabilities built in, but they also have software(TUBRO UCC AND AXTU?), MSI has oc stuff... I hear i have to disable some of the things in uefi (spread spectrum?) but am not sure what. Then some of the guides i'm reading are for non B.E. chips. Basically I'm wondering where should I begin to overclock. In software or in Bios. The bios also has auto overclocking, should I try that? What should I do. The bios also has the ram listed as 620mhz which i'm still not sure i get... The UEFI has voltages for god damn near everything too and there's just too many settings for me to understand.
MB: Asrock 970 Extreme 3 UEFI 1.70
Ram: KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G (kingston HyperX Blu 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9)
CPU: 1090t Phenom II x6
Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo (1fan)
PSU: Antec neo eco 620
GPU: XFX 6850 O.C.'d to 850core 1150memory stock voltages
Case: rosewill challenger
I'm not looking to have fans blowing on my vrm stuff so i'm not looking for a massive overclock just need to get started. I also do renderings both video and solidworks overnight so stability is key. So far while runing prime95 and stock settings with the hyper 212evo the most i've seen is 38c and it's sitting at 37 right now (note it is 67f in my room right now and it's only been running for 10 min so that may be a factor. @3200.15 (200.1x16.0) according to cortemp 1.0 rc5
Current bios settings,
Check this album i'm not typing it out...
