Hi,

I currently have a 500w PSU and my components are fine with that, however, I am wanting to slowly upgrade my PC and power supply is first on my list as it's already slightly faulty.

If I go from 500w to 750w is too much power bad for the components, or should it be fine?

Currently have amd 6600k
R7 260x

Thanks.

A 500W PSU is enough for a pretty big rig. At least if it's a decent brand. You wouldn't have a problem running things like a typical GTX 1080 on it.
Bigger power supplies are mostly useful if you have more than one GPU, a huge case with a bazillion drives and other things.
That said, a power supply is usually the most efficient if it runs at around 50% load, so, it could help your utility bill. If it helps enough to recoup the higher price is different question. :)
I've got a 500W PSU in my case, and I have 3x SSD's, one mechanical HDD, a PCI sound card, a wifi adapter, a core i5 and an RX480 and all sorts of joysticks, gamepads and things connected to the USB ports. 500W is a lot of power.

It's not bad for the components but a 750watt power supply is way overkill for that system and won't run at peak efficiency with the load your system will put on it. I would look for a quality 550watt power supply or up to 650watts if you plan to add a more power hungry GPU in the future. Don't buy some generic junk psu off ebay or something.
