I've been having problems with my new CPU cooler I installed. I've figured out the problem and it was that my motherboard specified, if you have an FX-8350 you need top down cooling to cool the VRM and surrounds(thanks,GhislainG). What I have done is put the stock fan back in and have got some extra fans directed in towards the processor. I want to keep my new CPU cooler but I don't know if can.

*Is there any way I could get a new motherboard that supports my am3 fx-8350 but doesn't need top down cooling?

*Is there any other alternative solutions that would keep the VRM cool and also be able to keep my new cooler.

The reason why I got the new CPU cooler was the stock fan is way too loud.

Specs:
FX-8350 4.0 Ghz 8-Core

GigaByte R9 280 OC 3gb Windforce
Western Digital Blue 1TB SATA3 HDD

There are aftermarket top down coolers like the cryorig c1, noctua makes a few, bequiet's dark rock tf. As other folks here mentioned, the 970a-ud3p is a better board. The vrm have heatsinks and it's an 8 power phase board vs the 4 power phase you're currently using. Should be more stable all the way around for the 8350.
