Top-End Spec Running Painfully Slow

Hi there,

I've been having this problem for a while now and I can't seem to figure out what the issue is. My computer is more than equipped to run any game smoothly (specs below), and I have always updated to the new graphics drivers.

For some reason, I get VERY low frames on certain games, on the lowest settings, Farcry 5, Fortnite, and even Oldschool Runescape I'm getting 10-30 frames max on (5-8 frames when another game is running).

My Specs:
- GTX 980 4GB
- i7 4770k Processor
- MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard
- 8GB RAM
- Corsair watercooler (h80i?)
- 256GB SSD (109GB Free)

What have I done so far?
- Installed latest 980 drivers
- Installed DriverBooster and updated ALL drivers
- Reinstalled games

Check your temperatures, it may be overheating. Is your cooler's pump working?

I agree, check your CPU temps. If the temps are ok, then check for something putting load on the GPU, sometimes a form of malware to use your GPU to mine crypto - Malwarebytes free edition can scan for this.

Hi thanks for the reply, my temperatures seem fine, it's around 36 degrees at the moment. How can I go about checking if my cooler's pump is working?

Your monitor is plugged into GPU and not MONITOR right?

log the temps when under load playing a game. If you run something like hwinfo or coretemp you can see what the max cpu temp was while gaming.
