First off, Hello to everyone who's reading this, I am just trying to start a small debate that will justify the integrity of PCs and Consoles in many matters.

Just to be clear, I, in no way support Consoles over PCs, PC Gaming is and will always be the future of the industry.

What first comes to mind when you see all of those topics hailing for PC gaming and how the ''newly released'' Consoles don't stand a chance? For me only 3 thoughts come to mind:

Price.
Compatibility.
Life-time.

Although we could all agree that the hardware of the new consoles is (heavily) outdated, and that a matched price (or slightly higher) PC can easily get better performance.
BUT
The real question is, the PS4 and Xbone are consoles their main purpose is gaming, so here lies the question, Can a PC of the -SAME- price achieve the same level of graphics ?

The answer would be a definite NO, and this won't even include the FPS difference and the resolutions.

Now, the other part of this topic, is the ''Constant Fear of lag'' . Normally, some guy just spent $300 on a high end graphics card and another $250 on a CPU and ...... That person, that almost just spent double the price of the console, would expect a great gaming performance. He would get that performance, but for the price he paid, he also expects to max every, single, video game he plays, otherwise, his hardware is not really future proof , isn't it? Spending that much then gradually lagging while games like Crysis and Battlefield get newer sequels. I mean, look at how depressing BF4s benchmarks are, A GTX 660ti actually hits less than 30 fps at max setttings.

Now here lies all the concerns, i repeat again , in no way i support consoles but, think it over, for the people who cannot possible spend that much and have a clear conscious mind while their expensive hardware outdates. With a console their would be NO challenge, you wont stare at gameplay videos and say, i wish the PC i just spent half my wage on would run it like this. Yes, i will always blame companies like Microsoft and Sony for using really awful hardware, but atleast the games will always function, they console will be always future proof, and you have a reliable gaming experience guaranteed for the next half decade.

Thank you for reading my topic, please post your opinions below.

I totally agree with you... Consoles offer gaming (xbone offers some other random features you won't use/need) at a great price.
The first several years every game would run great, but at a point all the optimisation can't make old hardware better than it is... PC are upgradeable (but games are less optimised)

My main reason not to buy a console for 400$/500$ is that I can use a PC for 1000$ for lots of others stuff except gaming (and it looks better 😛) like being productive and doing work (ewww).

One thing I'm jealous about is the optimisation... We PC player get all the crappy ports from the consoles 🙁
