I have a problem downloading torrents on my new PC that I have never encountered before and cannot work out what is causing it!

I am using qbittorrent. I have tried downloading various torrents from various sources.

The torrent will start off well downloading at a steady pace then after around 20 seconds the speed will tail off to a ridiculously slow speed before stalling altogether.

It is as if something is detecting the torrent and choking it to death.

I tried bittorrent as an alternative client and got the exact same fault.

I have tried turning off all firewalls and it still dosen't solve the problem.

I have cloudflare WARP and have tried turning that off.

I wondered could it be ISP but my ISP dosent appear to block torrents?

Does anyone know what else I could try??

Many Thanks.

PS

I am using a PC with latest gen Pentium 3 processor and SSD HD if that helps??

most likely this is a closed port issue. that's where i'd start looking. but each source will most likely have different connection requirements. so what might work on one tracker might be a no go on another.

be sure to keep a proper back-up of everything important since you are playing with fire and will most likely end up with a bit of nasty attachments to the torrent. when it happens a full reinstall is probably going to be the only option so a good back-up regiment is very important when dipping your toe into such waters.

Do you have any game optimizer software like the Asus game first software? This software WILL throttle traffic to prioritize game traffic.

IMO this probably tracks back to your ISP. Are you using some manner of VPN to obscure your location?

I can tell you absolutely positively that Xfinity/Comcast WILL throttle mysterious traffic and WILL send you a warning letter if they confirm you are torrenting protected content. I had an issue with them at one point, got the warning letter and now even trying to move personal content across their router from things like Team Viewer will fail. They have also been known to throttle my overall bandwidth for a couple of days as a smack on the hand.

one way to test your isp being the issue, is to enable forced encryption in qbit. your isp won't know what the traffic is, just that there is a lot of it.

if it works this way, then you know your isp is likely an issue. if same problem, then you can look elsewhere. should be enough seeders to still get good speeds despite not being connectable to anyone not using encryption.
