Are hard drives normally this loud because [removed] this thing is so loud when it reads and writes... I check through every single smart test out there and no its not a failing HDD. I just unboxed it 6 months ago. This drive was just my data drive so it didn't go through my processing and I just reinstalled my OS onto this drive..

Question from UberHue : "Toshiba Loud Hard Drive 4 TB"

Title explains it all I bought this drive 6 months ago and its still working right now. Its a 3.5 inch hard drive and it is very noisy and loud. Is this common with Toshiba hard drives.. Or should I be worried about failing hard drive? I've already went by and checked everything from chckdisk to seagate tools and crystaldisk. They all report back ok. I recently just reinstalled my OS on this hard drive and gave my other to a family member for a build.

Question from UberHue : "Hard Drive Loud (No profanity in this post)"

My toshiba 3.5 hard drive is very loud I bought it 6 months ago and ran all sorts of tests and everything came back ok. Is this normal to have happen? Its 4 TBS

Spamming your own tread is only going to cause people to ignore it. If someone ask a question to help out you need to give them more DETAIL on what it is. Just saying it is a Toshiba hard drive doesn't help. We need a model number.

Also how is being loud? Like it sounds chatty? is it only happening when you are using it or all the time? Is this drive your OS drive or is it just an extra drive in your PC? without answers to these questions we can't help out very much.

Sorry for late response I assume its a X300 model 3.5 inch 4TB. Now every once in a while I get a click click and then a data writing noise. I don't know if these are normal sounds. Usually only loud when downloading a game or first booting up but its still abnormally loud when doing those tasks.
It used to be my data drive but I just made it my OS drive yesterday and its been noisy ever since.
Basically put 0 noise as data drive. 100% noise as OS drive.
Edit: To be even more specific its a Toshiba HDWE140.

well an OS drive first off is almost always having some kind of data read or written to it.

with that said it sounds like a normal operation but a lot of drives these days are fairly quiet.

I have seen a few reviews of the drive being loud but not much. A lot of people say it is quieter than most other drives. Still might not be an issue with the drive though.

Its a 20 month old drive made by Toshiba apparently so eh.. If it fails it fails. But can you recommend any reliable good semi-silent HDDs around 2 Tb - 4 Tb?
Edit: My bad for double post I forgot I already posted before..

I'm also reusing a 2 year old HDD. Its a WDC something. Probably not going to be used much and data won't be precious. This ok?
Edit update: My toshiba passed on all S.M.A.R.T tests so it should be doing a ok then.

I moved my HDD down a slot now its a lot more quieter.. It was on the top slot touching the top probably causing vibrations.. Thanks for advice and help!
