I have an external hdd made by Toshiba, and this obvioulsy isn't the first time this has happened to me. I tried to run and open it up one day, and absolutely nothing. My computer, my husband's computer, my in-laws computer, none read the HDD.
When I plug it in, the light comes on, you can hear it running and everything, but no system recognizes that it's there. I have Ubuntu 14.04, and have not been able to pull it up in GParted either. I keep getting error messages and I'm not sure what to do.
Rather than sending the HD back to Toshiba, because I don't have all the information ie: original receipt, that would allow me to send it back to them anyways because this is the second one I got from the initial return, and the first one was a gift a few years ago.
There has got to be some program or something that will allow me to format this HD to 'ext4' so I can start using it again.
